The Academic college of Tel-Aviv Yaffo is organizing its Third Israel Behavioral Finance Conference. We initiated the First Israel Conference in Behavioral Finance in 2015 hoping to start a biennale bringing together in Israel some of the leading researchers in behavioral finance.
We thought of beginning this tradition since there are quite a few Israelis working in this area and we deemed it promising and constructive to gather many of them under one roof to serve as a nucleus for an international conference providing the platform and environment to discuss and explore advanced research questions in behavioral finance. In light of Kahneman and Tversky's path-breaking contributions, Israel may be considered as the "birthplace of behavioral finance”, making Israel all the more a fit place for the biennales… What we initially planned to be a one-day relaxed affair became a very condensed two days conference with speakers from all around the globe.
The success of the first conference led us to hold also the second conference in 2017 in a similar format. Since the second conference also drew quite a few participants, with many repeat speakers and participants from the first round who deemed it to be at least as fruitful and enjoyable as the first one, it seems that we are on the right track to holding the third one.
Topics to be addressed include behavioral finance theory and its applications to the theory of the firm, individual and professional investors, financial markets, international finance, management of sports activities, and more. We will consider also a limited number of papers from other related disciplines, and especially experimental finance. We also encourage submissions from junior researchers and doctoral students; a special session for PhD students will be held.
